Ruben Dale Roger Long passes away

Ruben Dale Roger Long of Worthington passed away Saturday. He was a familiar face at the White Hall Driving Range.

His sons Herbie and Dale also live in Worthington.  

Brothers Michael, David and Joseph predeceased him.

Ruben Dale Roger Long, 64, of Worthington, passed peacefully from this life in his home under hospice care, Saturday, (Aug. 2, 2014) after a long battle with heart problems. 

He was born in Fairmont on November 26, 1949 a son of the late Rubin Dale and Evelyn Beatrice Johnson Long.

Ruben was a Christian by faith.  He had worked as a self-employed contractor for several years. He was a member of the Lower West Fork Water Shed. 

He enjoyed helping his brother-in-law George Abel at the White Hall Driving Range, listening to Bluegrass music, caring for his many pets and especially spending time with his family.

Mr. Long is survived by his loving wife of 22 years Susan Jane Abel Long; two daughters Evelyn M. Banker of Oak Harbor, WA and Angel Long of Elkins; four sons Herbert D. "Herbie" Long of Worthington and his companion and mother of his daughter Trina McKenzie, Dale Long of Worthington, Matthew Long of Morgantown and Andrew Long of Parkersburg; his step-son Roger Abel of Romney; six grandchildren Sasha Mauhl and her husband D.J., Robert Banker, Tasha Kernan and husband Robert, Gabriel, Jessica and Adien Long; three great grandchildren Calvin Banker, Summra and Keyara Kernan; also several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter Norma Ann Long and three brothers Michael, David and Joseph Long. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

At his request there will be no funeral home visitation or funeral service. He will be laid to rest in the Bethlehem cemetery with the Rev. Melvin Ringer officiating a private graveside service.
