Lisa donating 40% of book sales to MS in honor of her late friend Jaimie Feltz Riley

Author Lisa Myers McCombs, wife of Monongah Fire Department chief Harless McCombs, offers this heartfelt and moving tribute to Jaimie Feltz Riley, who passed away Thursday night from the ravages of multiple scleroris (MS):

When twelve year old Abigail Van Buren Masterson (yep, named after the infamous advice columnist) is told that she is going to attend the same school and live in the same town FOR-EVER, she is thrilled. This means that her BFF might actually take human form and she will no longer need to rely upon her diary to perform that duty. Wow and viola! She and her younger brother will have their own bedrooms and life might be normal. But, then she discovers that the reason for this magnificent life change is that her mother has an incurable disease.

This incurable disease is Multiple Sclerosis.

Last night the world lost a wonderful person to the complications of MS. The world is a darker place without the light and joy that my friend Jamie offered with her genuine smile and positive presence.

Forty percent of all sales of my YA novel Abby will be donated to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society in honor of Jamie (Feltz) Riley.

Thank you, Jamie, for being my friend.

Jaime, 50,  was the daughter of Betty Wilson Feltz and the late, great Monongah High state titles (1952, 1955) football coach Jim Feltz and the sister of 1973 Monongah High state football champs quarterback Jay Feltz and long-time Monongah Middle School math teacher Jon Pat Feltz.

Monongah Town Recorder Patty Steele McCombs is married to Harless’ brother, Bill McCombs, Class of 1969, who is Monongah Water Director and on the Town Council.

Lisa’s mother, Pat Myers, taught at Monongah Elementary and her father, John Myers, was the Golf Pro at Green Hills Golf Club for many years.
