Monongah native Jack Prahl passes

Monongah native Jack Prahl, 84, passed away Saturday, Aug. 9.

His brother, George Prahl, is Class of 1965.

His sister, Helen Prahl Graffius, lives in Monongah.

Jack Prahl, 84, of Lanham Lane, Fairmont died Saturday August 9, 2014 at Fairmont General Hospital with his family by his side.

Jack was born October 28, 1929 in Monongah, WV, son of the late Paul and Beulah (Toothman) Prahl.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Shirley (Jones) Prahl; three daughters, Patricia “Patty” Wilson and her husband Cecil of Fairmont, Jacalyn “Jackie” Cianfrocca and her husband Paul of Seffner, FL, and Joyce Prahl of Fairmont; His brothers, George Prahl and his wife Woody, Charles “Tinker” Prahl of Fairmont; his sisters, Sarah Deusenberry of Fairmont, Helen Graffius of Monongah; five grandchildren, Shawn and Shane Wilson of Fairmont, Stacey Arnold and her husband Phil of Arnoldsburg, WV, Jeremy Cianfrocca and his wife Jessica of Riverview, FL, Jaimie Frasher and her husband Chris of Dover, FL; five great grandchildren, Caleb Wilson, Tori Arnold, Kendal and Cooper Frasher, and Vincenza Cianfrocca. He is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Ann Jones of Mannington; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by brothers, Edward, Clyde, Robert, James and Thomas; sisters, Lorraine Yaquinto, Betty Devores and Coralie Delligatti.

Jack was a self-employed masonry contractor with his two brothers, Jimmy and Charles “Tinker” working with him. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and NASCAR fan, (especially of Dale Earnhardt Sr.). In his later years, his pride and joy was feeding and caring for his pet deer, “Angel.”

The family would like to thank the Arbors Nursing Home for their excellent care they gave to Jack over the last four years, and the staff of Fairmont General Hospital.

Friends and family may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from 1 to 8 p.m. Monday and 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday August 12, in the funeral home with Pastor Michael Richards officiating. Interment will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens in Fairmont. 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Jack’s name to the American Stroke Assoc. or charity of choice. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.domicofh.com .
