A gas leak at
Middletown Mall in Fairmont Tuesday, July 29 that caused several people to get
sick has been repaired.
The gas leak originated at Mi Pueblo’s, according to Betty Schmidt, management and marketing for Middletown Mall.
Schmidt said crews from Peoples Gas and the Valley Volunteer Fire Department repaired the leak, but that some people went to the hospital on their own.
Those people said they experienced nausea and headaches following the incident.
The mall was not evacuated, but some nearby stores voluntarily closed as a safety precaution, Schmidt said, and the leak has since been repaired.
