Well, the town-wide yard sale on Friday and the Monongahfest on Saturday are over. All that’s left is the 3rd annual Car Show Sunday, and the cleanup.
Diana Pishner Walker, one of five
authors at the PACE Building, wrote:
“What a great day it was to be in Monongah.
Great food, old and new friends, family and I was so touched by the reception
my book got at the book signing. Many heartfelt stories came my way and to be
among such truly talented authors was amazing to me. Thank you to everyone who
came out and thank you so much for supporting my book.”
“I Don’t Want to Sit in the Front Row Any More” is the
name of the book by Diana, a 1977 graduate of Clarksburg Notre Dame High School
who works for the Marion County Board of Education.
Other authors at the Monongahfest were Diana Hutchinson
Parker (“Daddy’s Ledger”), Linda Tomlinson Stevenski (“The Gnomes Home”), Class
of 1955; Lisa Myers McCombs (“Abby”), Class of 1977; and Annette Bonasso Rose,
North Marion Class of 1980 (“Eat, Scream and Be Merry”).
There still were three craft booths open as late as 7:15
p.m. Saturday and the food sales went on through the fireworks.
Paulette Carr, who moved from La Crosse, Wisconsin with
husband Ray Carr, said she could hear the fireworks but, living in Fairmont “wondered
where they were coming from. Now we know!”
And we know that fireworks sounds can carry three miles
from Monongah to Fairmont.
The Car Show registration, Jenna Won’t Sing Band leader
Greg Patrick’s baby, will begin at 10 a.m. Sunday. The show will start at noon.
Monongah High Alumni Association President Linda Lopez Gandy, Class of 1965, posted this:
"Hats off to the Monongahfest committee. From the blast of the siren to begin the parade to the sounds of fireworks to end the day, it was all GREAT!"
This from a woman who really knows how to put on a show herself at the annual Monongah High Alumni Reunion. Get ready for the 2015 Reunion May 23, 2015 at the Knights of Columbus on Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont. Class of 1950 will have its reunion Friday, May 22. Mark your calendars!
