Hundred Hornets lose their buzz
From WBOY-TV
(my news source since the Fairmont Times no longer allows free online access)

HUNDRED - The Hundred Hornets canceled their football season because not enough players suited up.

Head Coach Rex Rush told WTRF they could not generate enough interest from students to play. The team had to forfeit two games in the 2013 season because of the lack of players due to injuries.

Students will be eligible to play at other schools in the county. Rush said, "It's pretty devastating after 10 years of coaching for things to end up like they did."

I remember when Monongah High played Hundred in football and baseball. The Hornets had a redhaired pitcher who was pretty good in the 1950s.

But in recent years it was common for Hundred to lose by 40 to 50 points in football.
