Former Monongah High bus driver Dave Shaver passes away

Long-ago Monongah High bus driver Dave Shaver, 90, passed away Thursday.

His wife, June Snodgrass Shaver, is the sister-in-law of Donald Toothman, who is the brother of Worthington Grade School teacher Goldie Harbert, the wife of Thoburn Grade School principal Frank Harbert.

His brother, John “Buck” Shaver, is a 1960 Mannington High graduate.

His sister-in-law, Nada Metz Spencer, is a 1953 Mannington High graduate.

Dave was the school bus driver who picked up the students in Worthington and drove them safely on U.S. 19 to Monongah High.

If you have memories of Dave driving the Monongah High school bus in the 1950s, or of this Shaver family (there are other, unrelated Shaver families in MHS history), email John Olesky at jo4wvu@neo.rr.com and I’ll add the information to this MHS Alumni blog.
