What I always loved about Monongah when I was growing up was that everyone chipped in to help when there was a need.

Decorating Monongah for Christmas shows that it’s still going on, 65 years later.

We previously reported that Susan Staron Sanders, Class of 1971, who lives on Thomas Street, is spearheading the drive to raise funds to erect the Christmas street lights donated by the town of White Hall and that Chris Martin, Monongah’s #1 photographer who lives not very far from where I devoured hot dogs at Carlot's Grill, decorated posts in the town.

Well, as Town Recorder Patty Steele McCombs writes, there’s another group of angels brightening up Monongah:

Thank You, Amanda Welty & Diane Welty along with the Monongah 4-H for decorating our tree by the Miner's bell every year! It just adds that special touch to our town's atmosphere.”

Santa can’t miss Monongah. It’s the town where everyone is helpful and nice.
