Monongah halfway to more Christmas lights
The drive to add Christmas lights to
Monongah is halfway there, according to Susan Sanders,
spearheading the fundraising.
Susan, the Thomas Street tornado, reports
that the Festival of Lights fundraiser netted $511.02.
She also writes:
“Good Evening to the wonderful people of Monongah. I am
overjoyed to say the total donations, food sales, ticket sales and table
rentals came to $537.73. After receipts were paid, the total came to $511.02.
“With the figures I have received from the town of
Monongah, we are more than half ay there for 10 new lights to be added next year.
Amazing for such a short period of time and all the wonderful people companies
& churches and the Town of Whitehall
and the Electric company.
“We are doing cookie trays for both companies. Thanks to Teena Field Ailstock, who
donated one herself. All we will have to do is buy one more which she saved us
a lot of money.
“Thanks to everyone. This could not have not happened
without each and every one of you. This is only the beginning.”
White Hall donated the eight lights that are up this
year. Donations and Town Council paid for erecting them.
Now, enjoy the Christmas lights as you walk about Monongah this season!
