Wanda Higinbotham Sapp passes away

Wanda Lou Higinbotham Sapp passed away Tuesday, December 1 in Fairmont, where she was born in 1927 as one of 10 children of Samuel Higinbotham and Minnie B. Barthalow Higinbotam.

She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

Her brother, James F. Higinbotham, formerly of Fairmont, passed away in Pensacola, Florida in 2001.

Their siblings were brothers Edward, Eugene, Joseph, Robert and Donald Higinbotham and sisters Rose Mary Higinbotham, Viola Dunn and H. Frances Shores.

Eugene Higinbotham’s widow, Violet Marie (Morris) Mikulski of Monongah, passed away last December. Violet’s second husband was Stephen “Charlie” Mikulski.

Wanda Lou Higinbotham Sapp, 88, of Fairmont, West Virginia died Tuesday, December 1, 2015 in the Fairmont Regional Medical Center. She was born July 31, 1927 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Samuel Higinbotham & Minnie B. Barthalow Higinbotham.

She was preceded in death by her husband Paul W. Sapp in 1986.

Mrs. Sapp is survived by 3 daughters and 2 sons-in-law Donna & Don Vincent of Fairmont, Linda & Sam Koch of Baxter and Pamela Blumetto of Andrews, South Carolina; 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces & nephews.

She was preceded in death by 6 brothers and 3 sisters.

She was a former sales representative for the C&P Telephone Company with over 25 years of service. Wanda attended the Highland Avenue United Methodist Church in Fairmont and enjoyed many activities including arts & crafts, sewing, painting, crossword puzzles, flower gardening and family game night.

The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, DeGarmo Chapel, 207 Second Street, Rivesville, WV 26588 Thursday, December 3, 2015 from 2-8 p.m. and Friday, December 4, 2015 from Noon-2 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home Friday at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Micah Blanks officiating. The committal service will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Fairmont.
