Sam Huff’s sister passes away

Mildred “Mickey” Maxwell, sister of WVU and New York Giants football great Robert Lee “Sam” Huff, passed away Tuesday.

Mickey was a Farmington High cheerleader where Sam began his football career.

Sam is in both the college football and Pro Football halls of fame.

Sam lives in Alexandria, Virginia. A second career in breeding thoroughbred horses lured him to that area.
 
Sam and his former wife, Mary Helen Fletcher,  have three children, Robert Lee ("Sam") Huff Jr., Catherine Ann and Joseph D.; three grandchildren, including Robert Lee ("Bobby") Huff III, and one great-grandchild, Robert Lee Huff IV.

Mildred Loraine “Micky” Maxwell, 83, formerly of Mannington passed away Tuesday, December 15, 2015 at Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center, formerly the Arbors where she was a resident. She was born October 20, 1932 in Kilarm, WV, a daughter of the late Oral E. Huff and Catherine Hartzell Huff.

Mildred attended Farmington High School where she was a cheerleader. She was owner/operator of Mickey’s Clay Pot, and had also been formerly employed by Decorators Industry, Manchin Grocery, and Warehouse Groceries. She enjoyed painting, quilting, and ceramics. She was also a member of the Calvary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her daughter: Deborah (Ted) Robinette of Idamay, sons: Rick (Cheryl) Maxwell of Fairmont, and Terry (Cathy) Maxwell of Fairmont; brothers: Sam Huff of Alexandria, VA and John Huff of Golden, CO; a sister: Martha Martin of Woodland Personal Care in Hutchinson; grandchildren: Shanna (Chris) Secreto, Jeffrey (Melissa) Maxwell, Benjamin (Chesney) Maxwell, Michelle (Jeremiah) Moyers, and William “Teddy” Robinette; 10 great grandchildren: Dominick and Olivia Secreto, Nathan, Kaden, Caroline, Jocelyn, and Maggie Maxwell, Katherine, Luke, and Noah Moyers; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband: William Benjamin Maxwell who passed away April 5, 1987; brothers: Donald and Jody Huff and a granddaughter: Tiffany Maxwell.

Friends may call from 3-9 p.m. on Thursday, December 17, 2015 at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington where funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. with Pastor Lee Bowman officiating.
