It will be cousin Jerry Loss’ turn to be an honor class at the 2016 Monongah High Alumni Reunion on May 28 at the Knights of Columbus on Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont.

His Class of 1956 will be celebrating its 60th anniversary reunion. Jerry, who grew up in Mill Fall, lives in North Olmsted with wife Elaine.

This is the class that gave Monongah its second state football title, in 1955. The others came in 1952, 1968, 1969 and 1973.

Class of 1961 will be the special honor class, as the Class of 1950 was this year (7 of the 21 alive showed up, and temporary health situations kept 3 others away at the last minute).

Class of 1966 (50th anniversary) and Class of 1976 (40th anniversary) are the other honor classes.

Monongah High Alumni president Linda Lopez Gandy, Class of 1965, married to Jim Gandy, and the MHS Alumni Board will be meeting in February to iron out details.

Meanwhile, if you graduated in 1956, 1961, 1966 or 1976, mark May 28 (and May 27 for single-class reunions) on your calendar.
It may be your last chance to see all of you former classmates. We lose more and more every year and there are no replacements since Monongah High ceased to exist after the 1979 class graduated.
