Ed Burley’s wife passes away

Katherine Ely Burley, wife of Edgar Burley, Class of 1962, passed away Wednesday, December 2 in Farmington.

They live in Worthington and their children were all North Marion High graduates.

Ed is part of a group of guys who have a monthly meal together. Others include Roy “Jaybird” Murphy, Class of 1966; Joe McCullough, Class of 1962; David  Willis, Class of 1961; Clifford Morgan, Class of 1961; James Nottingham, Class of 1961; Harold Maze, Class of 1961; Wilbur Smith, Class of 1960; and Howard Shuttlesworth Jr., Class of 1972.

Kathryn Elizabeth Burley, 69, of Worthington, died Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the John Manchin, Sr. Personal Care Facility in Farmington. She was born July 7, 1946 in Philippi, a daughter of Justina Kerns Ely of Barrackville, and the late Charles Ely.


Kathryn was a homemaker and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Fairmont. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, whose greatest pleasure was spending time with her family.


Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Edgar Burley; 3 children: Amey (Paul) Anderson, Worthington, Alicia (Nathanael) Hibbs, Mannington, and Andy (Jennifer) Burley, Barrackville; 5 grandchildren: Chad Anderson, Chelsea (Andrew) Ashcraft, Natalie Hibbs, Draven Burley, and Kristen Moore; 2 great grandchildren: Braelyn Ashcraft and Riley Weekly; and a sister: Monica (Herb) Stevens, Barrackville.


Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington on Friday from 4-8 p.m., during which a Service of Remembrance will be held at 7:00 p.m. Cremation will follow. Condolences may be accessed at www.hutsonfuneralhomes.com .
