Tom Dean, Class of 1949, whose mailing address is

Tom Dean
434 Peninsula Pointe
Lynch Station, VA 24571

Has been on the road again visiting family, and will visit other family members over New Year’s.

Tom’s email:

Have been out of town for the last nine days. Visiting my son & his family in NC. Will be going to Arlington over New Year’s. Hope you have a
prosperous New Year!

“Tom”

Tom has three sons in Goldsboro, North Carolina. Tom’s daughter, retired Colonel Pam Dean Mitchell, lives in Arlington, Virginia, which is almost 200 miles from Tom’s home in Lynch Station.

Tom always stops to visit Ramona Fullen Michalski, Class of 1949, when he’s in Monongah. He and Monie, as he calls her, have been friends for 65 years. Just like Bob Kasper, Class of 1950, who has homes in South Lyon and Presque Isle (Grand Lake), Michigan, has been friends with me for 78 years, since we were in first grade at Sts. Peter and Paul School together.

As most of you know, I visit Bob at his Grand Lake summer home for golf and conversation every summer and he visits Paula and I at our Tallmadge, Ohio home and goes with me to a WVU game in Mountaineer Field every fall. He's already down for the Oct. 22 TCU game. We may be 83, but we plan ahead anyway.

Tom also visits Elaine Hewitt Monell, Class of 1949, in  Riverside, a Dayton, Ohio suburb, the widow of Raymond “Soak” Monell, Class of 1945. Tom visited them when Soak still was alive, too.

In 2011 Tom had a reunion with Ted Nagle, Class of 1952, and Ted’s wife Faye in Bedford, Virginia. Ted lives in Vinton, Virginia and Micco, Florida. Tom was a classmate of Ted’s sister, Jean Nagel Viglianco (Class of 1949) of Fairmont and Ted was a classmate of Tom's late brother, Chub Dean.

Tom rode the Mangino truck with the Monongah High football team with me (I was only a team manager). He recalls when his Monongah High class rode in Phil Mangino’s truck, standing up all the way, for the Junior Sneak Day outing at Cooper’s Rock in 1948.

Tom’s wife, Rosemarie Dean, passed away in 2012.

Tom’s Air Force career took him to such places as Madrid, Spain, Iceland, Seville, Spain, and Germany.

If you want to email Tom, his email address is tom.dean@mac.com
If YOU are traveling, Monongah High alumni would like to hear about YOU, too. Just email John Olesky at jo4wvu@neo.rr.com with the details and jpeg photos of you and your family and friends at your travel locations.
Sharing our lives is what this Monongah High Alumni blog is all about. YOU are interested in reading about Tom's travels. Everyone else is interested in reading about your travels.
That's one way that Monongah High alumni bond.
