Hunting for heat in Huntersville
Cool Monongah Mayor Greg Vandetta |
Monongah Mayor Greg Vandetta is
enjoying not-so-cold weather in Huntersville, North Carolina.
Posted His Honor:
“I'm glad that I'm not in Monongah today.”
Huntersville isn’t exactly Florida, where
Paula and I are enjoying 50s and 60s and sunny in The Villages and I’ve played
golf 22 times since Jan. 1 and there’s free dancing and music in the town
square every night.
But it also isn’t Monongah, where with wind
chill it’s minus 13 and where cars are sliding all over and off icy I-79 not that
far from Monongah.
Greg had another birthday Jan. 18.
With him in Huntersville is wife Debbie Manzo Vandetta, Class of 1973, Monongahfest
president, whose birthday was Jan. 31. They were wed 38 years ago Oct. 16, 2014.
Greg
will be elected Monongah mayor again unless there’s a tremendous write-in vote
because no one else filed for the job when January’s deadline passed.
Mayor is the owner of Vandetta Construction. Greg and Debbie
live in Monongah.
Their son, Greg Vandetta II, and Janelle Vandetta were wed in
February amid a snowstorm – of course.
Ronnie Manzo – Debbie’s only sibling -- and Janice Manzo’s
sons are, in order of birth, Evan, Andrew, Aaron, Ashley and Jared. Andrew is
production editor of The
Villages (Florida) Sun for 100,000 residents who are 55 or older (that’s
the requirement to buy a home in The Villages).
