Derailed oil tankers still burning
Oil tanker fires from Monday’s train
derailment near Montgomery, West Virginia still are burning and will be allowed
to burn out.
Officials plan to move the train cars
not involved in the fire today -- Wednesday, Feb. 18 – with the oil still
inside them. It’s too dangerous to pump the oil out with the fires still
burning.
100 to 125 people were moved from their homes to hotels in Fayette County and Charleston. Others are staying with friends and family.
The evacuation will continue until
the fires have completely burned out.
The cause of the derailment has not been determined.
