Garbage fee hike won’t affect Monongah

Republic Waste Management’s proposed 44% rate increase to the Public Service Commission would hit most people in Marion County, but not Monongah or Fairmont residents.

As Monongah Town Recorder Patty Steele McCombs explains:

Monongah has  Waste Management services. We will not have any rate increase because the contract was just renewed with them.

Affected Marion Countians could see an increase of either $76 or $87 per year. That’s about $7.25 a month. They pay almost $200 a year now.

Republic says that it hasn’t increased rates in 10 years despite increases in its costs.
