Barb Hostutler Swisher’s son passes
away
David Swisher, 45, son of Monongah
grad Barbara Hostutler Swisher, Class of 1956, and nephew of Donald Hostutler,
Class of 1955, passed away Sept. 22 in Raleigh, North Carolina.
The late Paul and Iva Jane Hostutler of Monongah
were his grandparents.
On Sept.
27 the Wil-Mar Golf Club Group in Raleigh, North Carolina, played in memory of Dave,
who was a long-time member of the Golf Club. Wil-Mar was started in 1961 by
William and Mary Allen, who still operate the course that has the first three
letters of each of their names. It’s a 6,071-yard par 72 course.

David Swisher |
David Aaron Swisher, 45, of Raleigh, N.C. (formerly of Woodsfield,
Ohio) passed away Monday, September 22, 2014 at his home.
He was born at Washington Court House, Ohio on March 29,
1969 a son of James and Barbara Hostutler Swisher who survive of Delaware,
Ohio.
He grew up in Woodsfield, Ohio graduating from Woodsfield,
High School in 1987. He was awarded a B.S. Degree in business administration
from the Ohio State University in 1991.
David was employed at Nationwide Insurance during college
and following until he moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1997, to Greensboro, North
Carolina, employed at American Express, and then to Raleigh, North Carolina in
2007 where he was employed as operations and expense manager at Belk, Inc.
David was a member of the First Baptist Church in
Woodsfield and the Triangle Buckeyes, OSU Alumni of North Carolina. He was an
avid Buckeye Football and Basketball Fan and also the New England Patriots NFL
Team. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, and traveling.
David is survived by his loving parents of Delaware, Ohio,
his sister and family, Sheila (Rick) Ruggles, and Alexis Paige Ruggles of
Ostrander, Ohio. Brandon Ruggles of Columbus, Aunts and Uncles, Phyllis Shaw of
Monroe, North Carolina, Florice (Elton) Slusser of Fairmont, West Virginia,
Lake J Swisher of Lynchburg, Virginia. and Donald (Sandy) Hostutler of
Lancaster, Ohio, Also, two great-aunts, Tudie Shaffer of Grafton, West
Virginia, and Arda Bell McKinney of Keyser, West Virginia, many cousins and
friends.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Lake and
Beulah Swisher of Catawba, West Virginia, and Paul and Iva Jane Hostutler of Monongah,
West Virginia, a niece Alyssa Ruggles and two infant brothers, Mark Edward and
Randall James.
Visitation will be held at Watters Funeral Home , 37501
State Route 78 West, Woodsfield, Ohio on Sunday , September 28, 2014 from 2 to
5 p.m. with funeral services begining at 5 p.m. with Rev. Tommy Mills
officiating. Interment will follow at a later date at the Pisgah Cemetery,
Morgantown, West Virginia.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Scioto Valley
Christian Union Church, 5447 Riverside Drive, Delaware, Ohio 43015 or to the
First Baptist Church, P.O. Box 604, Woodsfield, Ohio 43793 or the American
Heart Association.
