$2,668.55 to fight cancer
The Marion County Rescue Squad Relay for Life Team raised $2,668.55 Monday,
Oct. 20 for the American Cancer Society.

“Thank you to everyone who bought a
ticket, sold tickets, sponsored baskets, concession stand helpers, raffle
tickets sellers. Monongah Fire Dept. for use of building and Valley Volunteer
Fire Department for use of chairs and tables. We appreciate each and every
one of you. This is a proud day to be an MCRS employee, to work with such
dedicated co-workers to raise money to help find a cure for cancer.”
Angela
is married to North Marion grad Jim Birdsell, grandson of Byron Birdsell,
Class of 1947, and nephew of Bill Birdsell, Class of 1950. Jim is one of
Monongah’s Company 10 Volunteer Fire Department members. He works in parts at
Leslie
Equipment and
lives in Millersville, West Virginia.
Jim’s
dad is Edwin Birdsell, who grew up on Park Avenue by Mount Calvary cemetery with Jim’s
grandparents, Zelda and Byron Birdsell.
Jim’s uncles are Bill Birdsell,
Class of 1950, and Bill’s brother, Byron, Class of 1947, a long-time Monongah
mailman. Jim, who married Angela in 2011, works for Leslie Equipment.
