Monongah’s Becky Edgell Long passes away

Monongah’s Becky Edgell Long passed away Saturday, February 27.

Her parents were William and Alberta Harold Edgell, but I don’t see a link to Okla “Okey” Edgell, Class of 1944, whose parents were Ray and Lucy Cain Edgell.

Becky’s sister is Georgie Edgell Spurling of Indiana.

The siblings of Okey, who played football at Monongah High, were Lillieray May “Pickle” Edgell Hall, Jeanette J. Edgell Lane, Doak Edgell and James Edgell.

Rebecca "Becky" Harris Long, 64, of Monongah passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. She was born in Marion County on August 3, 1951 a daughter of the late William and Alberta Harold Edgell.

She was a loving homemaker. She had a special love for children and was always looking after children. She had recently adopted Aleah Cottinham, Alayah Hall and Neveah Hall.

She is survived by three daughters Rebecca Burton of Fairmont, Leah Edgell of Fairmont, and Georgenna Long of Fairmont; one stepson Tommy Long of Pennsylvania; on stepdaughter Nancy; one sister Georgie Spurling of Indiana; 9 grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her beloved husband Tom David Long; a son-in-law Brian Edgell and two great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street on Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

A Funeral Service will be at Carpenter and Ford Funeral Home on Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor David Huckins officiating. Burial will follow at Martin Cemetery.
