Linda Lopez leg ‘luck’

Monongah High Alumni Association president Linda Lopez Gandy, Class of 1965, went from sun and fun on Sanibel Island in Florida to having one leg look like a mummy.

Let Linda explain:

This is my foot all wrapped up. It feels like it weighs 10 to 15 pounds.

“I had surgery the 18th of February. Dr. Zervos took off a heel spur and repaired my Achilles tendon.

“I was in pain for 4 good days. I can't walk on my foot for 6 weeks and it’s hard, especially when you want to get to the little room down the hall.

“I have a scooter and a wheelchair. Poor Jim is doing everything. He is my number one caregiver.”
Linda and Jim Gandy

Jim is husband Jim Gandy, Class of 1964, on the MHS Alumni board. They will be married 48 years on Aug. 24 and live in Monongah.

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump’s main claim to fame – even more than his unruly, store-bought hair -- is that he was born on the same day as Jim --  June 14, 1946.
Linda is a beautician at May’s Beauty Shop and a Leeds Candy Store sales clerk. She studied for the beautician job at Morgantown Beauty College.

It you want to wish Linda well, jump on her Facebook page.

And you can be sure that, mummified leg and all, Linda still will be busy planning the annual Monongah High Alumni Reunion May 28 at the Knights of Columbus on Mary Lou Retton Drive.

Mark the date on your calendar. Linda will have both legs in working order long before then.

So hop to it and get your dinner-dance reservation in to Donna Davis, Class of 1961. You can call her at (304) 534-5636 or email her at dldavis315@comcast.net  or go on her Facebook page.
