Mary Moorehead’s sister passes away

Kathleen Cottrell, sister of Idamay’s Mary Moorehead and with in-laws living in Carolina, passed away Sunday, February 15.

Kathleen’s obituary:

Kathleen Angela Cottrell, 61, of Nokesville, Virginia formerly of Fairmont passed away at Novant Health Haymarket Medical Center in Haymarket, Virginia.


She was born in Fairmont on November 12, 1954 a daughter of Elma Jean (Belt) Hassan and the late John Hassan.



Kathleen worked for 28 years as a teacher at KinderCare in Bristow, Virginia. She enjoyed teaching, riding motor cycles, her friends in the Boozettes and her animals.



In addition to her mother, Kathleen is survived by her devoted husband Kenneth Cottrell; four sisters, Helen Tinney and her husband Russell of Mannington, Mary Moorehead and her husband Mike of Idamay, Dottie Hassan of Fairmont and Teresa Hassan of Fairmont.



Also surviving is her father-in-law, Berlen Cottrell and his wife Sharon of Carolina; a sister-in-law, Beverly Boggs and her husband Bill of Fairmont; brothers-in-law, David Cottrell of Pittsburgh, Ryan Cottrell of Hutchinson and Rusty Cottrell and his wife Kelsy of Carolina and several nieces and nephews.



In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Rose Cottrell and two sisters-in-law, Kathy VanKirk and Christine Cottrell.
