WVU has more out-of-state than in-state students

WVU has more non-residents than in-staters in its freshman class and ranked 4th nationally in that category.

That includes 5% from other countries.

Only #3 University of Maryland, #2 University of Delaware and #1 University of Alabama, at 63%, have a higher percent of out-of-state students.

StartClass arrived at these rankings based on data from the National Center for Education statistics.

WVU’s total enrollment of 28,776 and matches the freshman class with 49% in-state and 51% non-resident students.

They are taught by 1,847 full-time and 617 part-time professors and instructors.

The WVU student body averaged a 3.45 grade point average in high school, which is nearly halfway between straight A’s and straight B’s.

The Morgantown institution provides about $400 million in financial aid, and average of nearly $17,000 per grant.

In-state tuitions and fees are $7,992, in addition to many $4,000 Promise scholarships for in-state high school grads. Non-residents pay $22,488 in tuitions and fees. Room and board expenses average $9,626.

WVU is 30th nationally in the Forbes list of Best Buy Colleges.
