Monongah Reunion turnout to exceed 2015 total

The 92nd Monongah High Alumni Reunion on Saturday, May 28 will have at least 140 attending, which would exceed the 125 who showed up in 2015.

That’s the report from Alumni Association treasurer Donna Davis, who handles the dinner-dance reservation checks.

With last-minute showups, 150 is a reasonable expectation. That’s good.

Since there have been no graduation classes after 1979, when Monongah was folded into North Marion, there are no replacements for those who pass away.

It’s still not too late for you to join the fun. Just call Donna at (304) 534-5636 and she’ll shoehorn you in with your guest(s).

Enjoy!

The honor classes are 1956, 1961, 1966 and 1976. Jay Holman and Sue Schrader are bringing a Class of 1971 contingent to the Knights of Columbus at Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont, too.

Honor class group photos will begin at 5:30 p.m., the banquet at 6:30 and the dancing to Stepping Stone music at 8:30.

Tom Dean, Class of 1949, who lives in Lynch Station, Virginia, was the first to mail in his dinner-dance reservation. Two weeks ago, only 45 had signed up. Nearly a 100 came aboard since then.

The Lions will be prowling on Friday, at single-class reunions all over Fairmont, and on Saturday, when all the classes gather for the annual homecoming.

Monongah High is a family that sticks together, no matter how many miles separate them in this world.

Cheers, Lions!

If you attend, send photos in jpeg format to John Olesky at jo4wvu@neo.rr.com and I'll round them up for this blog. Provide full identifications of everyone in the photos, including maiden names and graduation years. Lions like to see what their former classmates look like today. Provide any details about single-class reunions, too.

Thank you.
