Monongah resident Barbara Basnett Cain,
who would have been in the Class of 1956 if she hadn’t left Monongah High and
Worthington during her sophomore year, spent her birthday in the hospital after
knee surgery.
Quips Barbara: “I am more than ready
to go home.”
Barbara Basnett Cain |
Barbara moved from Ohio back to
Monongah in 1970. She lived in Olmsted Falls and Brook Park, Ohio and worked at
Continental Can as a packer.
She married Matthew Cain and returned
to Monongah. They have a son, also named Matthew.
Previously, Barbara was married to
Ralph Ayers (1954-68).
Her
father was school bus and mine bus driver Paul Basnett. Barb's brother
is Paul Basnett, Jr. Her
sister, Penny Cain Collins, lives in Zephyrhills, Florida.
Judging by her Facebook page, Barbara
loves photos of flowers.
Apparently Monongah and Monongah High have raised a lot
of Cain.
Melissa Toller-Cain lives in Monongah.
Dolores Kaye Teets Cain lives in Shinnston and is from
Monongah.
WVU grad Jill Cain is from Monongah and lives in
Fairmont.
There’s also Trudy Cain and Ina Cain and Judy Cain Turner,
married since 2009, and North Marion graduate Tonya Cain.
And 1989 North Marion grad John Cain, who lives in
Monongah.
Darrell Cain, Class of 1975.
Diane Cain Evans, Class of 1974.
Loretta Faith Cain Edwards, Class of 1971.
James Paul Cain, Class of 1967.
Maronee Miller Cain, Class of 1966.
Stanley Cain, Class of 1966.
Norma Brown Cain, Class of 1964.
Ronald Cain, Class of 1961.
Larney Cain, Class of 1958.
Larney Cain, Class of 1958.
That’s a lot of Cain, and I’m not about to try to figure
out how they do or don’t fit into the Cain family tree.
