Vera Higginbotham Moore passes away

Vera Pearl Moore, 84, of Monongah went to be with the Lord following a courageous battle with lung cancer, Friday November 21, 2014 at St. Barbara’s Memorial Nursing Home in Monongah. She was born August 2, 1930 in Francis Mine, WV, daughter of the late George and Blanche (Haggerty) Higginbotham.
Vera was a graduate of Shinnston High School and was formerly employed as an office worker by Alasky’s in Farmington. She was a member of The First United Methodist Church in Monongah. She loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed playing the piano for The Marion County Song Birds.

She is survived by two daughters, Debbie O’Dell and husband Rob of Francis Mines, Janet Frazier and husband Jack of Fairmont; two sisters, Lillie Westfall and husband Gilbert of Koons Run, Alice Williams and husband Arthur of Francis Mines; a brother-in-law, Johnnie Moore of Fairmont; grandchildren, James O’Dell and wife Lori, Julie O’Dell, Laura LaPointe and husband Jason; great grandchildren, Trey Anderson, Alex Smith, James Lemley, and Elijah LaPointe; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband, William “Bill” D. Moore in 1993.

The family will receive friends at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from 1 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 10 to 11 a.m. Monday. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday in the funeral home with Pastor Karl Streyle officiating. Interment will follow at The I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Enterprise.
