Bernice Gay Chickerell, 84, of Fairmont passed away on Wednesday,
November 19, 2014 at St. Barbara's Nursing Home in Monongah. She was born
October 22, 1930 in Fairmont the daughter of the late Jack and Myrtie Kendall
Cottrill. She was married to Richard Chickerell
for 53 years until his passing in 2002.
Bernice was retired from Marion County Board of
Education and had previously worked at St. Barbara's Nursing Home. She was a
hard working woman who loved farming and working in the garden. Bernice enjoyed cooking and always loved helping with
hotdog sales at Koons Run Park. She was known for her big heart and always
helping anyone in need.
Bernice is survived by her five children,
daughters, Sandra Olson of Shinnston, and Linda (Louis) Bernier of Westminster,
MD; sons, Richard "Ike" (Laura) Chickerell.
Tom (Jessica) Chickerell and Franklin Chickerell all of Koons Run.
She is also survived by two sisters, Hilda Rapp of Lanham, Maryland and Velma
(Bill) Harris of Ripley and one brother, Charles Lee (Penny) Cottrill of
Kingmont; her grandchildren are, Charlie (Teri) Roberts and Steven Roberts,
Issac (Trudy) Chickerell, Louis "Bud"
Bernier, Teresa (Mark) Price, Kristin Chickerell,
Carley Chickerell, Leslie Chickerell, Jenna Chickerell,
Nicholas Chickerell and Jamie Chickerell and great grandchildren, Samantha Roberts,
Shyanne Roberts, Jacob Roberts, Shay Roberts, Katie Allen, John Price, Gunner Chickerell and Thomas Scritchfield. She is also
survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her
sister, Selma and her grandson, Raymond Roberts.
Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & ford Funeral Home, 209
Merchant Street, on Friday from 1pm to 9pm and on Saturday 10am to 11am. The
funeral service will be at 11am on Saturday at the funeral home with Rev.
Charles Chipps officiating. Interment will follow at Pisgah Cemetery in
Monongalia County.

FAIRMONT — Donald Garey Chickerell, 62, of Fairmont, lost his
battle with cancer Friday (Sept. 2, 2011) at his home, under Hospice Care.
He was born in Chiefton on Sept. 6, 1948, a son of the late Dominick and
Reva Ashcraft Chickerell.
He graduated from Monongah High School in 1967. He served in the U.S.
Army from 1968–70 and was stationed in Aschaffenburg, Germany. He was retired
from Ruskins but was previously employed by Alling & Cory. He was a member
of Grace Lutheran Church.
Donny was a working man. He enjoyed helping others with anything that
needed done. He supported his children in all their adventures and was an avid
supporter/worker for the Polar Bear Band for several years. He enjoyed classic
cars and was the proud owner of a 1956 Chevy. He enjoyed visiting and talking
with friends and playing cards. He especially enjoyed spending time with his
grandchildren.
Mr. Chickerell is survived by his wife of 43 years, Nola Gump
Chickerell; his four children, Cindy Masturzo and her husband Joe and their
three children, Ariel, Nicky and Anthony, of Fairmont, Rhonda Kuhn and her
husband Jeff and their three children, Megan Headley, Ethan and Dylan Kuhn, of
Fairmont, Sheryl Chickerell and her son Caleb Chickerell of Fairmont, and Gary
Chickerell and his wife Heidi and their two children, Hayden and Cooper
Chickerell, of Fairmont; his twin brother, Ronald Chickerell and his wife
Beverly of Fairmont; two sisters, Connie Chickerell of Fairmont and Melissa
Rice of Elkton, Va.; a brother-in-law, Ches Gump of Fairmont; two nieces, Cathy
Chickerell and Ulysses Jaen and family of Morgantown, and Chasity Rice of
Elkton, Va.; and two nephews, Ron Chickerell Jr. and his wife Tonya and family
of Rachael, and Zachary Rice of Elkton.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws,
James Willard and Mildred Whitehair Gump; and several aunts and uncles.
Donny’s family would like to thank the workers of Hospice Care and

Friends may call at Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel), 320
Madison St., Fairmont, from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 to 11:30 a.m.
Wednesday. Services will be held in the funeral home at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday
with Pastors Seth Broadhurst and Justin Wright officiating. Interment will
follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery with full military honors.
