On Nov. 25, 1962, Katherine Batis, later Katherine, Crown Princess of Yugoslavia, married Jack W. Andrews.

But a day earlier, there was a far more momentous event for Donna Colvert, Class of 1961, and William Davis, Class of 1958: It was THEIR wedding day.

So on Nov. 24, 2015 Donna and Bill, stalwarts of the Monongah High Alumni Association, celebrated their 52nd (!) wedding anniversary.

Quipped Donna: “Time sure does fly.”

Sure, Donna, especially when you’re having fun.

As Monongah High alumni know, Donna keeps the mailman busy every year delivering filled-out Monongah High Alumni Reunion dinner-dance reservation forms, with attached checks, to her 858 Park Avenue home in Monongah.

When you attend the MHS Reunions, Donna is always on the dais, but her work in getting former Lions to gather together is a 12-month job.

MHS Alumni Association president Linda Lopez Gandy, Class of 1965; vice president Delores Edwards, Class of 1955; and Connie Koldres Cameon, Class of 1963, secretary, play vital roles, too.

But Donna has been the constant over all of these decades.

MHS alumni owe her a great debt of gratitude.

Husband Bill is on the MHS Alumni board of directors, along with Linda’s husband James Gandy, Dave Raddish, long-time reunion helper Carol Spatafore (particularly with the MHS golf scramble which, unfortunately, died out as former Lions died off), Nick Scrivo and Sally Woods Tarley.

If you want to congratulate Donna and Bill on their tremendous achievement, you can call her at (304) 534-5636 or email her at dldavis315@comcast.net  or go on her Facebook page.

It would be a piddling repayment compared to everything that Donna -- with Bill at her side -- have done for Monongah High alumni.
