Renzy & Sydney, with Monongah ties, on All-State Lacrosse teams

Renzy Cochran, daughter of Ann Marie Preolitti Cochran Parsons and the late Larry Alan Cochran and stepdaughter of Jeff Parsons and granddaughter of Monongah High grads Renzy Fazio and Frances Olesky Fazio, was named Most Valuable Player on the West Virginia All-State Girls Lacrosse team.

Sydney Michalski, daughter of Marion County Parks and Recreation Comission executive director Tony Michalski and Holly Turkett Michalski, was named to the second team.

Tony’s parents are Mike Michalski, Class of 1969, and Jane Sauro Michalski. Mike’s parents are Ramona Fullen Michalski, Class of 1949, who lives in Monongah, and the late Frank Michalski, who was in the Class of 1949 and a Monongah High football player.

The state champ Fairmont West star Cochran led the way on the defensive end with 59 ground balls, 19 caused turnovers and 15 blocks. She also had four goals and three assists.

Joining Cochran as unanimous first-team choices were senior attacker Sofia Sansalone and senior goalie Rainy Heston. Other Polar Bears on the first team were senior midfielder Megan Wilt, senior attacker Claire Craig and junior midfielder Reina Edwards.

On the second team were West’s senior defender Sydney Michalski, senior attacker Tressa Bonasso and junior defender Megan Stephenson.
