Ida Van Zandt Humbertson of the Four States Hardway family passes away

Ida Pearl Hardway Humbertson, from the Four States Hardway family at Monongah High, passed away Tuesday, June 14.

She was the widow of William F. Van Zandt and George S. Humbertson.

Her siblings are Rose Hardway Thomas, Class of 1960; Edwin A. Hardway, Class of 1962; Maxine Parrish; Gladys Hardway; Russell Hardway; and Robin Kay Hardway Taylor, Class of 1975.

Other Hardways who graduated from Monongah High are Ervine Hardway, Class of 1963, and Darla Hardway, Class of 1977.

Ida Pearl Humbertson, 81, of Fairmont passed away on Tuesday June 14, 2016 at Fairmont Heath and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her family.
She was born on November 9, 1934 a daughter of the late Carl and Lena Deal Hardway.
Ida is survived by her children, Debbie (Pete) Hardesty, Terri (Jeff) Tucker, John Humbertson and Michael Humbertson; her grandchildren, Stephanie (DJ) Ice, Stacy (Ben) Schwanke, John (Chasidy) Hardesty, Joshua Tucker, Zach Humbertson, Jacob Humbertson, Laura Humbertson and Aiden Humbertson; her great grandchildren, Nicholas, Emma and Owen Ice, Cara, Andrew and Allie Schwanke and Kamren Hardesty.
Also surviving are her sisters, Maxine Parrish, Gladys Hardway and Rose Thomas; her brothers, Russell Hardway and Edwin Hardway; and many nieces, nephews and special friends.
In addition to her parents, Ida was preceded in death by her husbands, William F. Van Zandt and George S. Humbertson; a daughter, Sandy Lafler; a sister, Opal Palmer; and brothers, Virgil Hardway, Carl Hardway, Jr. and Irvin Hardway.
Friends and family may call at the Carpenter & Ford Funeral Home, 209 Merchant Street, Fairmont on Thursday from 4pm to 8pm and on Friday Noon to 1pm. The Funeral Service will be at 1pm on Friday, June 17, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Glenn Stevenson of the Fellowship Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Rest Haven Memorial Gardens.
