It turns out it’s not only the Ahouse
females who do so much traveling. Monongah resident Mike Ahouse, 1985 North Marion graduate, gets
in his share, too, when he’s not delivering the mail from the Worthington post office.
Mike in Montana's Glacier National Park |
Mike’s latest trip, to eventually
take in all 50 states, is to Montana, which will take 45 states off his Bucket
List. Only Hawaii,
Alaska, Oregon, North Dakota and South Dakota are left.
After reaching Montana, Mike enjoyed a beverage at Great Northern Brewing Company in Whitefish, Montana. I did Coors brewery in Colorado and Guiness in Dublin. Nothing like getting the stuff straight from the source. No waiting.
Mike's 45 is 2 more states that I have visited, although I have been to 53 countries. And
Paula and I are considering a trip to Branson, so that would wipe Missouri off
my never-been-there list, leaving only Arkansas, Kansas, Mississippi, Nebraska
and Oklahoma.
Mike’s sisters are Monongah’s famous Traveling Ahouse Sisters – Sue Ahouse Schrader, Class of 1971, who is in Arizona as you read this, with family members and long-time mate Gary Konzelman; and Mary “Kitty” Ahouse Morrison, Class of 1968, who stays home in Monongah long enough to pack for another trip. After reaching Montana, Mike enjoyed a beverage at Great Northern Brewing Company in Whitefish, Montana. Kitty is at home in Key West, Cabo San Lucas or sister Sue Ahouse Schrader’s Piscataway, New Jersey. Sue also has a home in Stoney Lonesome.
So Kitty finds herself in a rare situation where she’s the only one of the Traveling Ahouse Trio who is at home while Mike and Sue are on the road again.
That must give Kitty really itchy traveling feet.
