Virginia DeMary passes away


Virginia DeMary, Class of 1941, passed away Monday, March 14 in Monongah.

Her parents were Anthony DeMary and Lucy Damico DeMary.

Her siblings:

Ann DeMary Eates, Class of 1945, married to Joe Eates, also Class of 1945, who live in Monongah at the bottom of Bridge Street hill.

Jimmy DeMary and Anthony “Plumber” DeMary Jr., Class of 1950, both deceased. 

DeMarys who graduated from Monongah High also include Betty Ann DeMary, Class of 1979; Mike DeMary, Class of 1974; Patti DeMary Evans, Class of 1972; and Rose Ann DeMary Fiore, Class of 1943.

Virginia DeMary, 92, of Monongah passed away Monday, March 14, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. in St Barbara’s Nursing Home.  She was born September 07, 1923, in Monongah, the daughter of the late Anthony and Lucy (Damico) DeMary. 

Virginia graduated from Monongah High School class of 1941.  While attending Upsala College she was recognized by the Nu Chapter of Alpha Psi Omega fraternity for her service to the college.  Virginia resided in Bloomfield, NJ for 45 years.  She had been a dedicated member of the college administration staff for over 28 years.  She was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church.   She was an avid reader and loved to travel.  Virginia was respected and loved by all.  

Virginia was a  beloved sister to Ann Eates and husband Joseph of Monongah; She is survived by a special niece and nephew, Joan Arasteh of Katy, TX and James A. DeMary of Canonsburg, PA; a sister-in-law, Rose DeMary; great nieces and nephews, Zachary Nicholas, and Sasha Adair Arasteh of  Katy, TX; and several beloved and dear cousins.

In addition to her parents, Virginia was preceded in death by two brothers, James A. DeMary and Anthony DeMary Jr. Special thanks to Janet Salvati, Linda and Lenny Bofantino, Lucy and Tony Eates, Julia Pride, and dear cousins, Betty Ann, Patti, Brian, John, and Diana.

Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave., Fairmont, Thursday 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A vigil service will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, with Deacon Louis Belldina officiating.   A Mass of Christian burial will be held at Holy Spirit Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Friday with Father S.A. Arokiadass acting as Celebrant.  Interment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery in Monongah.  Online condolences may be sent to the family at
