“John:

“Just learned of the passing of Sam Bearden. We graduated together in the Class of 1960.  We were good friends.

“A funny story. When I deployed to Hof (Air Station in the Air Force), Germany in 1962, I walked into the Chow Hall for breakfast and there sat Sam Bearden.  What are the chances of that happening?  Over 3,000 miles from home and there was one of my buddies from back home.

Sam was in the Army Border Patrol Unit that deployed down to Hof. We were only a few KMs from the Czech border. Never did
see him after that.

“Like you said, too many of the Monongah High grads are leaving us too soon.
