This year the honored classes at the Monongah High Alumni Reunion Banquet will be 1956, 1966, 1976. Special honored class is 1961.
I already know that Linda Sawyer Duckworth, Class of 1966, is trying to round up her 1966 classmates for their Friday, May 27 Class of 1966 dinner at a place that I haven’t been told about yet and for the Saturday, May 28 all-classes reunion at the Knights of Columbus on Mary Lou Retton Drive in Fairmont.
Even though they aren’t an honor class, Jay Holman is doing his usual bang-up job of corralling his Class of 1971 classmates.
Would the persons in charge of the Class of 1956, 1961 and 1976 please email me at jo4wvu@neo.rr.com with your name, email and phone contact number and current hometown and a list of your class’ classmates that you haven’t located yet and I’ll put the information on the Monongah High Alumni blog.
Maybe I can help you find “lost” classmates, as I did already with the Class of 1966 within hours of posting the unfound classmates.
A tip: Try Facebook with the name of the “lost” classmate. You’ll be surprised how often that turns up a classmate. I do it often, using my 43 years of newspaper editor experience, and it works marvelously. I have found MHS grads that haven’t been heard from in 50 years!
Thank you. Together we can make the 2016 MHS Alumni Reunion a resounding success.
The honor class photos will begin at 5:30 a.m. for $15 per photo, the banquet at 6:30 p.m. and the dance to the music of Stepping Stone at 8:30 p.m.
In between, there’ll be a lot of conversation and hugging of former classmates.
Stepping Stone is the father/son duo of Ron and Todd Poole.
Ron began his music career in 1961 and is a guitar player. His son, Todd, began performing with his father in 1976 at the age of three for a local Lions Club. Their first album in Nashville, with Wedge Records, was in 1989. In 1991, they changed the group’s name to Stepping Stone.
Enjoy!
