Happy 85th birthday today, Jo Ann McDaniel Huff, Class of 1949. Jo Ann had her birthday celebration early.

Jo Ann was born March 8, 1931, granddaughter of famed Monongah stationmaster Ted McDaniel. Her siblings are Mary Jane McDaniel Pritchard, Donald McDaniel and Jim McDaniel, Class of 1960, who lives with wife Mary Faust McDaniel, in Rehobothbeach, Delaware. Jim is an Air Force retiree.

Jo Ann lives at the bottom of Kings Alley in Worthington.

The Harbert family once lived next door to the McDaniel family on Water Street in Worthington. Jo Ann, the late Theresa Demus, Class of 1950, and Duane Harbert, Class of 1951, played together as children, including at birthday parties in Worthington.

 

Duane, who lives in Marlboro, New Jersey, is a son of former Thoburn School principal Frank Harbert and former Worthington Grade School teacher Goldie Harbert.

 


Duane’s brother, John Harbert, Class of 1955, and his wife, Karen Colvin, Class of 1955, are deceased.

Adrian Currey McDaniel, Class of 1923, was the stationmaster’s wife.

ars worth of flood damage, breached 11 dams and was responsible for dozens of deaths in South Carolina, drove Jim and Mary from their home in Rehobothbeach for two days last October.

Mary Jane and John Charles Pritchard’s daughters are Jane “Nene” Pritchard Moore, Class of 1975; Beth Pritchard Brooks, Class of 1978, and Jonna Pritchard Barnett, who was in the first graduation class at North Marion in 1980 after going to Monongah High for three years, and married to Shinnston High grad Brad Barnett.
