Raese’s target sells 4 West Virginia TV
stations for $130 million
West Virginia Media Holdings, founded
by Bray Cary in 2001, is selling four TV stations in West Virginia to a Texas
company, Nexstar Broadcasting Group, for $130 million.
Cary was named in West Virginia Radio
Corp.’s 2013 lawsuit, under the direction of John Raese of the Morgantown media
empire, along with anyone else Raese blamed for losing his sweetheart deal to
cover WVU sports.
IMF replaced West Virginia Radio
Corp. to handle WVU’s radio and television sports coverage, for $86.5 million
over 12 years.
Cary’s TV stations are WBOY in
Clarksburg-Weston, WOWK in Charleston-Huntington, WTRF in
Wheeling-Steubenville, Ohio, and WVNS in Bluefield-Beckley.
In June, Raese and WVU settled the lawsuit, which banned further
Raese legal maneuvers over the situation.
