Monongah
water improvements to begin in summer
The $7
million Monongah water project will be bid out in spring and begin in summer,
Monongah Mayor Greg Vandetta reports.
The sewer
project, also in the planning stage, is expected to follow afterward.
Monongah is facing a 40-year loan and water and sewer rate hikes to pay for the two projects. Monongah sells water to other areas, diluting some of the cost to town residents.
The water project will include new storage tanks and replacing the 75-year-old line to the
town water plant.
The state and federal government are mandating the changes to the
existing water system.
Vandetta said he hopes the sewer project is ready to go by the time the water project wraps up.
