For
someone who “retired” in 2005, Jay Holman, Class of 1971, sure has worked for a
lot of companies in the past 10 years.

The
“retirement,” Jay said, lasted two years. Since 2007 he’s been involved in
digital conversions for cable and telephone firms.
His
next is for Cox’s Plus 1 Communications in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He spent a
month in St. Joseph, Missouri working for SuddenLink.
Jay, also a professional
photographer, “retired” as a sales and
leasing consultant for an auto business in Durham, North Carolina.
Jay,
one of the most active alumni in the Class of 1971, married a Fairmont West
girl, Margaret, in 1998. He has three sons: Jay Holman III, a Chicago banker;
Robert Holman, who works for the federal government out of Clarksburg; and Fairmont
State grad Michael Holman, a North Carolina teacher among the finalists for
national Teacher of the Year (he’s North Carolina’s Family and Consumer Science
Teacher of the Year).
Michael came to Chapel
Hill-Carrboro City Schools in 2011 as a teacher at East Chapel
High School after four years in Granville County Schools.
Jay
lives in Atlantic Beach, North Carolina. He lived in Carolina during his
Monongah High days.
Jay
was a ground mechanic for the Air Force during the Vietnam War.
