Thoburn wall-watcher Paul Griffey passes away

Stephanie McIntire reports the sad news about Paul Griffey’s passing:
Paul Griffey
“Paul Griffey passed away this morning. I am sure most of you will remember him standing along ‘the wall’ with several of his friends from the coal mines, in front of the old Thoburn School, then later they could be seen standing at the Dairy Mart.”
If only they had been standing on the corner in Winslow, Arizona, Stephanie, the Eagles would have been made them famous in their “Take It Easy” song which became so popular that today in Winslow there’s a Standing on the Corner Park with the artwork of muralist John Pugh and sculptor Ron Adamson. The song was written by Jackson Browne and Glenn Frey.
Winslow, Arizona is on Interstate 40, between Flagstaff and the New Mexico border.
Actually, my late wife Monnie and I drove by that corner on one of our trips and saw teenage boys standing on the corner and watching all the girls go by.

Susanne Boswell Coulson remembers Paul as “such a sweet man. My prayers for his family.
Brooke Pethtel wrote: “I'm sure my pap-paw Jack Huffman was happy to see him! They were buddies.
Debbie Weaver Hurley remembers “growing up on Center Street right across from the family; great memories! RIP, Paul, you will be missed in Monongah for sure.”
