Mill Fall’s Dale Brooks passes away

Mill Fall’s Dale Brooks, in a family of Farmington High graduates, passed away Monday, March 9.

(November 1, 1926 - March 9, 2015)
 
Dale E. Brooks, 88, of Mill Fall Community, went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 9, 2015 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport. He was born November 1, 1926 in Farmington, a son of the late Grant and Stella E. Wolfe Brooks.

Dale was a coal miner at Williams Mines and Loveridge Mine, having retired with over 35 years of service in the mining industry. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the United States Navy. Dale was a member of the White Rock Community Church and a lifetime member of the VFW in Fairmont. He loved his grandchildren and family, and enjoyed horseshoe pitching and fishing.

Dale is survived by his wife of 66 years, Wanda Curio Brooks, whom he married August 16, 1948, 1 brother, Jerry Lee Brooks and wife Patricia of Charleston, SC, 4 sisters, Betty Lou Narog Hepler of Fairmont, Doris Jean Hensley of Fairmont, Barbara Ann Korsh and husband Paul of Farmington, and Maxine Helen McDonald of Bridgeport, a sister-in-law, Gaylene Brooks of Worthington, a daughter-in-law, Linda Carothers Brooks, Shinnston, grandchildren, Crystal Dawn Brooks and husband Bill Barbour, Stephanie Ann Thorne and husband Brent, and Samuel Grant Brooks, great grandchildren Devin and Aaron Barbour, Katelyn and Alyvia Brooks, and Taylor Thorne, a daughter, Donna Kay Gump and husband Robert of Rachel, her children, Tonya Chickerell, Anita Gonzales, Robin Vega, and great grandchildren: Mia and Abbi Rowand, Grace and Georgia Gonzales, Bobby, and Jamie Boyce, and Johna Wega, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Dale Franklin Brooks, 3 brothers, James Robert Brooks, Lester Eugene Brooks, and John William Brooks, and a sister, Hazel Pauline Brooks.


Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in Farmington from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8:30 p.m. on Thursday where funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. Betty Jones officiating.
