Farmington grad John Leezer passes away

Farmington High graduate John Leezer, Jr., 67, familiar to many Monongah High alumni including MHS Alumni Association president Linda Lopez Gandy, passed away Sunday, March 22 in the Fazio Eldercare in Monongah.

John W. Leezer, Jr. September 19, 1946 - March 22, 2015

John W. Leezer, Jr., of Meadowdale, passed away early Sunday morning at Fazio's Elder Care in Monongah, WV.

He was born September 19, 1947 in New York, New York, son of the late John W, Sr. and Mary Jo Starsick Leezer and was raised in Rachel, WV.

He was preceded in death by his wife Linda “Sue” Rennie Leezer, who died in 2009. Mr. Leezer was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Fairmont, WV. He was a 1965 graduate of Farmington High School then served 4 years of service with the U.S. National Guard.

Mr. Leezer was the owner - operator of Leezer Distributing and Repair Service of Fairmont , WV (Gaston Ave.), he worked for over 50 years. He very much enjoyed working with automobiles and going to area car shows.

He was active with the Moose Lodge and the V.F.W. of Fairmont, WV. He also enjoyed volunteering various services for the Busy Bee Band of East Fairmont.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands; Jennifer and Jerry Benn of Morgantown, WV, Holly and John ”JD” Wise of Fairmont, WV, and Heather and Ryan Stocking of Morgantown, WV, five grandchildren; Devyn and Jillian Benn of Morgantown, WV, Sydney and Grant Wise of Fairmont, WV, and Rhett Stocking of Morgantown, WV, a brother and his wife; Robert G. and Pamela M. Leezer of Katy Community, a sister and her husband; Marsha and Rodger Wright of Troutman, NC, and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother; Bryan Kevin Leezer and an aunt, Virginia Leezer.

Friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV from 1pm till 8pm on Wednesday, 3-25-2015. A Catholic Vigil Service will be held Wednesday evening in the funeral home at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, 3-26-2015, at 11am in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, with Father Walter M. Jagela as Celebrant. Burial will follow in the Harmony Baptist Church Cemetery in Burton, WV. The family wishes to thank Cora Fazio and her staff for their excellent care shown to Mr. Leezer.
