WVU to Face Texas A&M in Liberty Bowl
Rest of Big 12 bowl lineup

West Virginia will play Texas A&M in the Dec. 29 Liberty Bowl in Memphis. All games involving Big 12 teams will be televised on ESPN.

The Mountaineers (7-5, 5-4) will face Texas A&M (7-5, 3-5) at 2 p.m., matching WVU coach Dana Holgorsen with coaches he has strong relationships with. Aggies head coach Kevin Sumlin hired Holgorsen as his offensive coordinator at Houston and offensive coordinator Jake Spavital served as quarterbacks coach under Holgorsen at WVU before leaving for A&M.

Texas A&M’s Aggies rose to as high as No. 6 in the AP Poll after beginning the season with a 5-0 record before dropping five of their final seven games in the SEC (which must sound familiar to WVU fans who remember Geno Smith and Tavon Austin going 5-0 and being in the top 5 before the 2012 season collapse to 7-6).

A 4-8 season in 2013 left WVU out of the postseason for the first time since 2001. Holgorsen is 1-1 in bowl games as a head coach.
In other Big 12 bowl games, on Dec. 29 Oklahoma will play Clemson at 5:30 p.m. and Texas will play Arkansas at 9 p.m., on Dec. 31 co-champ TCU will play Mississippi at 12:30 p.m., on Jan. 1 Baylor will play Michigan State at 12:30 p.m. and on Jan. 2 Kansas State will be in the Alamo Bowl against UCLA at 6:45 p.m. and Oklahoma State will be in the Cactus Bowl against Washington at 10:15 p.m.
