One of Monongah High’s six famous athletic Orsini brothers will be celebrating his 65th wedding anniversary Wednesday, Dec. 24th.

Terry Orsini Saye sent me this email:
John,

On Dec. 24th my parents Mary Louise and Tony Orsini will celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary.  Please include this in your blog.

Thanks,

Terri Orsini Saye

Terri’s parents are Tony Orsini, Class of 1946, and Mary Louise Baker Orsini, who began at Monongah High with the Class of 1948. They live on Swisher Hill.

Tony was one of the six athletic Monongah High Orsini brothers: Tom “Bum”, Larry, Jimmy, Junior (Cocoa) and Bill. Only 2 are still living, Tony and Jimmy.   Jimmy lives in Virginia Beach, Va.

The Orsini family had a grocery store in Worthington run by mom, Sylvia Orsini.

Tom, Class of 1950, died in 2005. Peggy Rauer Orsini, Class of 1959, Tom’s widow, lives in Titusville, Florida, where Tom was a teacher in that area for 30 years.

Nick Orsini, Jr., Class of 1949, had moved to Warren, Ohio.

Larry was Class of 1945 but I didn’t find graduation year for Bill.

Terri lives in Durham, North Carolina and is the widow of Dr. Jerry D. Saye, who went from Fairmont State to be librarian with School of Information and Library Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 1985 till his 2012 passing.

If you want to congratulate Tony & Mary Louise, email them at orsini177@comcast.net

If you have memories of the Orsini, Baker or Saye families, email John Olesky at jo4wvu@neo.rr.com and I’ll add them to this Monongah High Alumni blog.
