Woman who started fight loses Saban lawsuit
The woman who started a fight against Nick “Brother”
Saban’s daughter, then tried to get hush money from her parents, had her
lawsuit thrown out of an Alabama court.
Tuscaloosa County Judge James H. Roberts
ruled on Wednesday that Kristen Saban’s physical confrontation with sorority
sister Sarah Grimes in 2010 was justified because Grimes initiated the fight.
Grimes had claimed that Saban injured her
during the tussle. She was seeking financial redress for her injuries. The
judge said that Kristen had the right to defend herself under Alabama’s “stand
your ground” law.
Saban’s lawyer said that the family refused
to pay “hush money” to avoid bad publicity over the incident.
Brother is Alabama’s football coach and was quarterback of the
1968 Monongah High football team that won the state championship.
