William "Bill" Carpenter
(December 13, 1926 - December 9, 2014) William J. Carpenter, 87, of Monongah passed away Tuesday December 9, 2014 at his home. He was born on December 13, 1926 in Monongah, WV, son of the late William and Mary (Wright) Carpenter.
Bill was employed by the Marion County
Board of Education for over 40 years. He served for many years as the first
president of The WV School Service Personnel Association. He was a member of
The First United Methodist Church in Monongah, The Mason Acacia Lodge #157,
and The Eastern Star chapter 34. Bill was an avid WVU sports fan, enjoyed
gardening, reading western novels and traveling.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded
in death by his wife Iris Delores (Martin) Carpenter; two brothers, Lonnie
Carpenter, James Carpenter and his wife Nancy Carpenter; one sister, Nancy
Carpenter Tharp and her husband, Buck Tharp.
Bill is survived by three children, Doris
Rogers and husband Scott of Winfield, Will Carpenter of Monongah, Amy
Carpenter and girlfriend Lindsay Menas of Pleasant Valley; a sister-in-law,
Helen Carpenter of Monongah; three grandchildren, Mandi Jo Craig and husband
Justin, Josh Rogers, and Matthew Pruitte. He also leaves behind his companion
of many years, Barbara Michael, and a close friend, Lenny Bonfantino.
The family will receive friends at Domico
Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 10 to
11 a.m. Friday. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday
December 12, in the funeral home with Pastor Karl Streyle officiating.
Interment will follow at Beverly Hills Memorial Gardens in Westover, with a
Masonic Service being conducted at graveside by The Masonic Acadia Lodge #

My dad loved to laugh and make others laugh. Thursday, from 1:00-8:00, I will continue his legacy at Domico's-We have the big room!! If you care anything at all about my 12 untalented sisters, you will be there to protect them-as most of my material centers around them.
