Will you be in Florida in January or February?

If you are, you’ll have dozens of chances to reunite with other Monongah High alumni.

The 3^rd annual Monongah High Alumni Reunion/Sarasota will happen at noon Friday, Feb. 6, 2015 at the home of Bill Meredith, Class of 1957, who lives in Sarasota with wife Roleta, a Clarksburg Washington Irving High graduate.

If you live in Florida or will be vacationing there Feb. 6, 2015, email John Olesky at jo4wvu@neo.rr.com to let him know if you think you can make it.

John Olesky and Paula Tucker will be renting in The Villages, Florida for three months (January-March, 2015). If you’re near The Villages (it’s not far from Tampa or Orlando), call John at (330) 388-4466 and we’ll arrange a Monongah High reunion of former Lions. 

John even has a second set of golf clubs in case anyone comes avisiting. Just saying . . .

And on Treasure Island, near St. Petersburg, Joe Martin, Class of 1957, and wife Arlene Kitchen, a Nova Scotia native, live.

So there are plenty of Monongah High Alumni to visit if you're in Florida this winter. Such as some of the folks who were at the 2013 January MHS Reunion in Sarasota at the Meredith home:

Bob Arnett, Class of 1957, & Barb Enoch Arnett, Class of 1960, who live in Scherr, West Virginia, but were vacationing in Florida; Lloyd Schell, Class of 1957, who lives in Pompano Beach, Florida; Lyla Cosner Howell, Class of 1958, and husband Len, who live in Elkins and Fort Myers Beach, Florida, and show up in Mountaineer Field in the same Section 107 where I sit with my sister, Jackie Olesky Straight, Class of 1955, of Rivesville; Sandy Weils Shaffer Cook, Class of 1959, and husband Bob, who live in Fort Myers, Florida; Joe Martin, Class of 1957, and wife Arlene Kitchen, who live on Treasure Island, Florida; Bill and Roleta, the hosts; and John Olesky, Class of 1950, and Paula.

Joyce Cowart Davis Peck, Class of 1966, lives in Palm Harbor, Florida.

Bettie Hensley Lowther, Class of 1948, as feisty as ever, lives in Pompano Beach, Florida.

Leo Kubiet, Class of 1942, lives in Largo, Florida.

John Matkovich, Class of 1948, lives in Palm Harbor, Florida, with wife Dolores Sweede Matkovich, Class of 1953.

Pat Meredith Wills, Class of 1950, spends her winters in her St. Augustine Beach, Florida home with husband Don Wills (and summers in their Fairmont home).

Ted Nagel, Class of 1954, has homes in Vinton, Virginia and Micco, Florida.

Bob Cottrill, Class of 1951, lives in Melbourne, Florida.

Why, you could spend your entire winter vacation just visiting Monongah High alumni in Florida. Sure beats the winters up north, huh, snowbirds?
