Jack Pethel passes away; son Adam lives in Monongah
Jack Pethel, whose son Adam Pethel married John and Goldie Huffman’s
daughter, Brooke, and lives in Monongah, passed away Friday.
Henry Moore, husband of Jane Pritchard Moore,
Class of 1975, was Jack’s co-worker for nearly 30 years.
Wrote Jane:
“He was always so caring and fun to be around. Now he can
rejoin his wife who suffered through the same thing a few years ago. Rest in
peace, Jack. We will miss you. Our prayers to your family and many, many friends.”
Jane grew up in Worthington but lives in
Fairmont with her husband. Her maternal grandfather is the famous Ted McDaniel,
Monongah’s long-ago Streetcar Stationmaster. Ted’s son, Donald McDaniel, Class
of 1946, passed away in 1963. Another son, Jim McDaniel, Class of 1960,
lives in Behoboth Beach, Delaware.

Jack Edward
Pethtel, 59, of Fairmont, passed away on Dec. 19, 2014, at his residence,
surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Jan.
24, 1955, in Fairmont, a son of the late Henry C. and Mary Sturm Pethtel. He
was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Cathy L. Moore Pethtel, on Sept.
10, 2011.
Jack was a 1973
graduate of Fairmont Senior High School. Jack was a past member of
Pitcher United Methodist Church. He was a veteran with the United States
Navy with four years of service.
He retired from
Soles Electric of Fairmont with more than 27 years of service as a sales
representative. He was the president and a member of the MEMMA.
Jack enjoyed
hunting and fishing. He was an avid Mountaineer fan. He loved spending time on
his back porch and being with his grandchildren.
He is survived by
his sons, Chad E. and his wife Helen Pethtel, of Rivesville; Adam M. and his
wife Brooke Pethtel, of Monongah; grandchildren, Bradley and Brianna and
Jackson Pethtel; brother, Donnie and his wife Judy Pethtel, of Fairview;
sister, Joan and her husband Don Pitman, of White Hall; sister-in-law, Connie
Stewart, of Fairmont; brothers-in-law, Dick Moore, of Fairmont, Ronnie Moore,
of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and Rob Moore, of Fairmont.
He is also
survived by several nieces and nephews, and a special friend, Saundra Huggins,
of Fairmont.
In addition to his
wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Dwight, Rick and
Dick Pethtel; and his sister, Delores Harris.
Friends and family
may call from 1-8 p.m. today, 1-8 p.m. Monday and 10-11 a.m. Tuesday at the
Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont.
