Charles “Sonny” Barta, 76, of Bingamon, formerly
of Idamay, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 31, 2014 at the Ruby
Memorial Hospital in Morgantown with his family at his side.
He was born December 10, 1937 in Idamay, a son
of the late Steve, Sr. and Stella Tossone Barta.
Sonny retired from the Owen-Illinois Glass
Factory and was a loving father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather
and a special friend to so many who knew him.
He is survived by his companion, Janet Martin of
Bingamon, a daughter and son-in-law, Lena and Mike McKinzie, Idamay, a son and
daughter-in-law, Ronnie and Eleanor Reed, Idamay, a brother, Steve Barta, Jr.,
Idamay, a sister, Lucy Wells, Monongah, his grandchildren: Mikie and Danny
McKinizie, Misty Shultz, Gena and Mike Runner, Krista Hamrick, David and Rachel
Reed and Amber Reed, as well as several great grandchildren, nieces, nephews
and great nieces and great nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded
in death by his wife, Ida “Toots” Barta, a brother, Nick Barta, and his
daughter, Dorothy Hamrick.
Sonny was a devoted companion, father, brother,
uncle, grandfather, great grandfather and friend. He loved spending time with
his family and friends, each of them having a special place in his heart. He especially loved the Pittsburgh
Steelers.
Friends may call at the Hutson Funeral Home in
Farmington on Wednesday from 5-9 p.m. Cremation will follow. Online condolences may
