Al cameon, class of 1947, passes away

Albert Cameon, Class of 1947, passed away Monday, April 7.

He is survived by brothers Pete Cameon, Class of 1958, of Clarksburg, and Bill Cameon, Class of 1960, of Highland, Indiana; sisters Nathaleen Cameon Oliver, Class of 1948, of East Chicago, Indiana; Linda Cameon, Class of 1966, of Carolina; and Virginia Cameon Mezzanotte of Fairmont; and sister-in-law Francis King Cameon, Class of 1942, of Carolina.

He was predeceased by brothers Arthur, Joe and Rudy Cameon. The nine Cameon children’s parents were Clyde and Maggie Cameon.

Albert “Al” Cameon, 85, of Mannington, WV passed away Monday April 7, 2014 at the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center in Clarksburg. He was born on October 26, 1928 in Carolina, WV, son of the late Clyde and Maggie Cameon. He was preceded in death by his wife Alice.

Al served his country with the U.S. Army during World War II. He resided in Cleveland, Ohio until his retirement. He then moved back to West Virginia and settled in Mannington with his wife Alice.

He is survived by two brothers, Peter Cameon of Clarksburg, WV, and Bill Cameon of Highland, IN; three sisters, Natalie Oliverio of East Chicago, IN, Linda Cameon of Carolina, WV, Virginia (Pat) Mezzanotte of Fairmont, WV; and a sister-in-law, Frances Cameon of Carolina, WV.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Arthur Cameon, Joe Cameon, and Rudy Cameon.

The family would like express their appreciation to the staff at the VA Medical Center; and his caregivers, Loretta and Tim Fury, Nicole Fluharty, Doris and Ed Gump for the care and compassion they gave to Al during his illness.


Family and friends may call at Domico Funeral Home, 414 Gaston Ave. in Fairmont from 1 to 8 p.m. Thursday. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday April 11, in the funeral home with Pastor Scott Hall officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest at the Shinnston Masonic Cemetery with full military rights being conducted at graveside by the Marion County Veteran’s Council.
