Grandfather of Monongah’s Rebecca Shroyer dies

Donald Lee Tennant, Sr., grandfather of Monongah’s Rebecca Shroyer, passed away Friday, April 11.

Donald Lee Tennant, Sr. 77, of Fairmont went to be with the Lord Friday April 11, 2014 at his residence with his family by his side. He was born on February 11, 1937 in Fairmont son of the late Leslie Claude and Ruby Velma Cain Tennant.

He retired from Martinka Mines in 1997. He graduated from East Fairmont High School and also served 4 years in the U.S. Army. He and his wife were married on November 16, 1963 and celebrated there 50th wedding anniversary on November 16th, 2013

He is survived by his wife Deloris Jean Watson Tennant of Fairmont, his son Donald Lee and wife Barb Tennant, Jr. of Grafton, grandchildren Stacie (Boyce) and husband Ed Carpenter of Prickets Creek, and Stephen Tennant of Grafton, great-grandchildren Elijah Matthew and Grace Adeline, his Daughter Tami Ann (Tennant) and husband Jessie Paul Shroyer of Bunner Ridge, grandchildren Rebecca A. Shroyer of Monongah and Devin Lee Shroyer of Bunner Ridge and Charlene Elaine Tennant of Fairmont. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law Thomas and Connie Tennant of North Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Ross Funeral Home 801 Fairmont Avenue Fairmont on Tuesday from 1-9:00 P.M. and Wednesday from 11:00 A.M. till the time of service at 1:30 P.M. at the funeral home with Rev. Jim Zinn Officiating. Entombment will follow at Grandview Memorial Gardens.

Full Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery.
